Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking an Applications Engineer to join our experienced team in the industrial machinery sector. You will support customers throughout the lifecycle, proving out machines, training operators, developing machining strategies and demonstrating the latest technology to customers and dealers.

Based in the UK, you’ll travel to customer sites across the UK and Ireland, install and commission machines, provide on-site support, and work with the sales team on technical

Qualifications

• Experience in CNC machinery or manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of metal cutting and tooling.
• Ability to develop manufacturing processes for components.
• Good problem-solving skills and a practical engineering mindset.
• Confident communicating with customers, operators and colleagues.
• Willingness to travel across the UK, Ireland and overseas.

Responsibilities

• Visit customer sites across the UK and Ireland to install, set up and prove machines.
• Deliver operator and engineer training for customers and dealer networks.
• Develop machining methods, tooling strategies and CNC programs to solve manufacturing challenges.
• Support the sales team with technical demonstrations, time studies and machining solutions.
• Carry out machine demonstrations for customers and dealers, explaining machining processes clearly.
• Install machines in customer facilities and showrooms.
• Test and commission machines for safe, reliable operation.
• Provide telephone and on-site technical support for customers and dealers.
• Learn new machine technologies and attend manufacturer training courses.
• Support exhibitions, open days and customer events across the UK and Europe.

We're looking for an Applications Engineer to become part of our experienced and supportive team. This is a varied role where no two days are the same. One day you could be proving out a brand-new machine for a customer, the next you'll be delivering operator training, developing machining strategies, or demonstrating the latest technology to customers and dealers.

BASIC SALARY: £36,000

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Applications Engineer - Industrial Machinery

We're looking for an Applications Engineer who enjoys engineering just as much as they enjoy helping people.

You’ll ideally have:

• Experience and a proven track record a similar position within CNC machinery or manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of metal cutting processes, tooling and machining methods.
• The ability to develop complete manufacturing processes for finished components.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a practical engineering mindset.
• Confidence communicating with customers, operators and colleagues.
• The ability to work independently while also thriving as part of a collaborative engineering team.
• A willingness to travel throughout the UK, Ireland and occasionally overseas.
