Applications & Development Chemist required on a permanent basis, based in Cheshire. Requiring a degree in Chemistry, with recent industrial experience in formulating & testing the applications of surfactant-based products. Recent experience may include coatings, pigments, adhesives, construction (highly desirable), personal care, and home care products.

The company seeks to add an Applications & Development Chemist to their industrial technical team at their Cheshire site. The successful candidate will support the development and application testing of surfactant-based formulations for industrial applications including construction (gypsum and mortar additives), coatings, pigments, adhesives, and more. Candidates with recent industrial experience in developing and testing surfactant-containing products are encouraged to apply, including recent chemistry graduates with a year in industry as part of their degree.

Role / Description:

• Support in the development and formulation of surfactant-based products across sectors.
• Manage product development stages from inception to commercialization.
• Assist in lab testing of new products, including performance and stability assessments.
• Discuss testing results with technical and commercial teams.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external labs to evaluate products.
• Manage projects within agreed timelines.
• Produce laboratory samples and maintain accurate records.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal use.
• Review patent literature to ensure legal compliance of formulations.

Requirements:

• Degree in Chemistry
• Recent industrial experience in developing and testing surfactant-based products
• Backgrounds in personal care, homecare, coatings, pigments, adhesives, or construction (gypsum and mortar additives) are desirable
• Excellent communication skills
• Familiarity with basic analytical chemistry techniques
