Job description

As an Application Support Engineer / Field Service Engineer, you will join our UK Lifecycle Services group supporting customers through a blend of upgrades, application deployments, and maintenance activities on their DeltaV DCS/SIS.

You will primarily engage our Process Systems and Solutions (PSS) customers within the UK, including offshore installations, to build relationships and become their trusted adviser.

We deploy a wide variety of products from the DeltaV portfolio, with a significant Cybersecurity focus – this includes Backup & Recovery, Patch Management, Predictive Maintenance, Endpoint Security, Application Whitelisting, and DeltaV Mobile. You will complete certification paths for the products required to support our customers so that you can deploy and maintain them.

We also support customers with maintenance and incident resolution activities, and you'll be part of the on-call team providing emergency response to several UK customers.

These activities will require you to travel regularly to customer sites (average approximately X% to Y% of your time).

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Design, installation, and commissioning of project deliverables.
  2. Assisting customers in resolving Emerson product service and application issues, including coordinating support from the Emerson Global Support Centre.
  3. Supporting sales activities such as proposal estimates, site surveys, product demonstrations, and identifying service and product opportunities.
  4. Assisting with LTSA contract activities, including maintenance, DeltaV system administration, and system health checks, and participating in the on-call emergency response roster.
  5. Working flexibly across the UK, offshore, or abroad, including occasional unsociable hours and weekends.
  6. Maintaining and repairing DeltaV Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
  7. Completing mandatory training and certifications to support customer systems.

For This Role, You will Need:

  • Strong knowledge of computer, network, and control system architectures, including Virtualization.
  • Excellent knowledge of DeltaV, Windows platform, and related products such as Backup & Recovery, Patch Management, etc.
  • Experience in installing Windows OS and applications.
  • Knowledge of DeltaV portfolio products or equivalents in other DCS systems.
  • Experience in authoring and reviewing project documentation.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, with excellent communication skills and comfort interacting with customers.
  • Some knowledge of control system configuration, graphic modifications, and third-party interfaces like OPC, Modbus, Profibus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on-site.
