We are currently looking for a field-based Application Specialist to join our Diagnostic Solutions team. You will support a diverse product portfolio, including microbiology and molecular instruments for infectious disease diagnostics, as well as cytology solutions. Your expertise will be crucial in delivering top-notch application support and training to our laboratory customers across North England, Scotland, and Ireland. Ideally, you will be based around the M62 corridor. You will travel four times a week, with some overnight stays expected.

Main Responsibilities Will Include

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with laboratory customers to support applications and services.
  • Provide expert guidance on instrument operation and maintenance to ensure optimal product use.
  • Deliver high-quality application training during and after installation, both on-site and at BD training facilities.
  • Partner with Regional Account Managers on territory planning and pre-sale support.
  • Act as a point of contact for application-related queries and minor technical issues.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and technical support teams to resolve customer concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct workflow and LEAN reviews to enhance laboratory efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with BD policies and procedures.

About You

  • NHS laboratory background in Medical Microbiology; knowledge of Cytopathology is an advantage.
  • Degree in a Life Science discipline (or equivalent experience); recent graduates with strong motivation are welcome to apply.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with healthcare professionals.
  • Confident communicator with strong training or mentoring experience.
  • Organised and adaptable, capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Analytical approach with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
