Retail Business Services (RBS) supports Amazon’s Retail business growth worldwide through three core tasks. These are:

1. Selection: RBS sources, creates, and enriches ASINs to drive GMS growth.
2. Defect Elimination: RBS resolves inbound supply chain defects and develops root cause fixes to improve free cash flow.
3. Operational Support: Supports operational processes for worldwide Retail teams where there is an air gap in the tech stack. The RBS tech team develops automation leveraging Machine/Deep Learning to scale execution of complex tasks requiring human cognitive skills.

Key Job Responsibilities

We seek a skilled Application Engineer (AE) with diverse skills and experience. As an AE, you will collaborate with business teams to address support needs with existing applications, gather requirements, and develop scalable solutions with other technical teams. Your role involves translating business and functional requirements into deliverables, building scalable systems, and maintaining service health and robustness.

You will implement and maintain solutions, work with engineers on multiple products, create process automation scripts, monitor systems, and handle operational requests. Understanding the business impact of support decisions, you'll drive operational efficiency through SLAs, metrics, monitoring, procedures, and documentation. On-call support is essential, involving alarm monitoring, infrastructure issues, and bug fixes. You will also onboard clients and familiarize them with platform features.

A Day in the Life

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of software development or technical support experience
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging systems
• Experience in React JS & Java (front-end & back-end)
• Scripting experience in modern programming languages
• BSc in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent industry experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong knowledge of at least one high-level programming language (preferably Java or Python)
• Ability to solve complex problems independently
• Understanding of the deployment lifecycle from design to deployment

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development
• Experience troubleshooting & maintaining hardware & software RAID
• Experience with REST web services, XML, JSON
