Job description

We're working with a leading engineering company seeking an Application Engineer to act as the technical link between customers, sales, and product development. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and direct collaboration with both internal teams and clients.

You'll support customers throughout the product lifecycle - from pre-sales consultations through to post-sales troubleshooting - ensuring products meet their technical and functional needs. You'll also provide key technical support to the sales team, helping translate complex requirements into workable engineering solutions.

Day-to-day, you'll use your CAD expertise (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) to design and modify 3D models, develop technical drawings, and produce detailed manufacturing instructions. You'll also be involved in generating hydraulic/electrical schematics, and applying FEA tools to support design validation.

This role involves regular interaction with manufacturing, engineering, and dealer support teams. Your technical input will help drive customer satisfaction, product quality, and overall solution effectiveness.

What They're Looking For

• HNC or degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 3-5 years' experience in an application or mechanical engineering role
• Strong 3D CAD and technical drawing skills; FEA experience is a plus
• Background in lorry loaders, cranes, or HGVs is ideal
• Confident communicator with solid problem-solving abilities
• SAP and MS Office proficiency; fluent in written/spoken English
