Job Description

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and technically minded Metrology Technician to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate in a technical discipline who is ready to build a career in metrology.

About Delta XD

Delta XD is a precision engineering consultancy specialising in advanced measurement, inspection and test. We work across aerospace, defence, rail, energy, motorsport, and high-value manufacturing—delivering accurate, actionable data where it’s needed most.

Our services include 3D scanning, dimensional inspection, reverse engineering, measurement-fixture design and manufacture, and production fixture development and verification. We provide fully mobile measurement services, as well as automated using ZEISS ScanBox platforms.

Delta XD is also a ZEISS Certified Metrology partner responsible in the UK and Ireland for new sales, training and aftercare support for the ZEISS optical 3D testing portfolio, supporting static and dynamic material and component testing across industry and research sectors. This includes the ARAMIS, TRITOP, PONTOS and ARGUS product lines.

Based in Basingstoke and operating nationally and internationally, we combine technical expertise with rapid delivery - helping OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers maintain precision and confidence in their products and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support dimensional inspection using 3D scanning systems
• Assist with onsite work at customer facilities (travel required)
• Carry out CAD comparisons and learn to interpret engineering drawings
• Receive full training in ZEISS GOM hardware and software, GD&T principles, and automation tools
• Contribute to inspection projects across aerospace, rail, defence, and manufacturing

What You’ll Need

• A relevant technical qualification (HNC, BTEC, HND, or degree)
• Some hands-on experience or academic exposure to measurement or engineering tools
• Clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel
• Must be able to meet UK and US military security clearance requirements
• Positive attitude and eagerness to develop technical skills
• Located or, willing to relocate, in a commutable distance of the Delta XD office.

Desirable (but not essential)

• Python experience or interest in automation
• Familiarity with CAD or metrology software
