Job summary

Tech Mahindra is seeking an experienced Application Database Administrator in the United Kingdom to manage IDMS schemas, subschemas, areas, sets and database definitions.

You will support development teams with database design, query optimization, and change implementation, while performing performance tuning and capacity planning on a busy mainframe environment.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of experience as an Application DBA.
• Strong knowledge of CA IDMS/ IDMS DB/DC in mainframe environments.
• Experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, and z/OS.
• Understanding database structures such as schemas, areas, records, sets, and subschemas.
• Knowledge of backup/recovery procedures and disaster recovery processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain IDMS schemas, subschemas, areas, sets, records, and database definitions.
• Support application development teams with database design, query optimization, and change implementation.
• Perform database performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Troubleshoot production issues, analyze root causes, and implement permanent fixes.
• Coordinate with mainframe operations teams for batch jobs and system upgrades.
• Participate in on-call support and incident management as required.

Roles and Responsibility

• Manage and maintain IDMS schemas, subschemas, areas, sets, records, and database definitions.
• Support application development teams with database design, query optimization, and change implementation.
• Perform database performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Troubleshoot production issues, analyze root causes, and implement permanent fixes.
• Execute database reorganization, backup, recovery, and migration activities.
• Review and implement database changes through release management processes.
• Ensure database security, integrity, and compliance with organizational standards.
• Prepare technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
• Coordinate with mainframe operations teams for batch jobs and system upgrades.
• Participate in on-call support and incident management as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience as an Application DBA.
• Good knowledge of CA IDMS / IDMS DB/DC in mainframe environments.
• Experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, and z/OS platform.
• Understanding of database structures such as schemas, areas, records, sets, and subschemas.
• Knowledge of backup/recovery procedures and disaster recovery processes.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work in production support and high-pressure environments.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
