Job Title: Application Configuration Engineer

Location: Hybrid (Barrow in Furness)

Rate: £450 per day - Umbrella Only

Clearance: Active MOD Clearance Required

Application Configuration Team Purpose

Upon entering the detail design phase of all major shipbuilding programmes, there is a requirement for programme-specific parameters to be input and maintained in the systems used to design the product. This has been the case since the early use of CAD on LPD/LPH, Astute, CVF, Dreadnought, and now SSN AUKUS. This process has become increasingly critical as our PLM systems are now fully integrated with CAD applications.

The evolution of our organisation has led to this task being performed across different departments and programmes. Currently, on SSN AUKUS, there is a gap that the Application Configuration team is proposed to fill.

Additionally, early implementation of data governance is recognized as a way to improve overall programme performance by addressing data quality issues before they impact the transition to the build stage.

Application Configuration Team Role

• Deploy submarine-specific parameters into the toolset configuration to ensure proper use and data output from CAD & PLM systems.
• Design and coordinate change processes with stakeholders for configuration settings that cannot be directly affected by the team, such as server file-based List of Values, to support business operations.
• Maintain and update submarine-specific parameters within the toolset, utilizing new features as they become available.
• Leverage experience in deploying and maintaining submarine parameters to establish data governance solutions, review data quality, and generate reports.

Your Role as Application Configuration Engineer

• Experience with NX and Teamcenter, including configuring these tools to align with OEM standards and processes.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following: NX Structure Designer, NX for Ship Building, NX Check-Mate, NXOpen, NX Product Template Studio (PTS), NX Visual Reporting, XML coding.
• Ability to provide training to team members on NX and Teamcenter configuration.
• Liaise with the program delivery team to gather and understand their configuration requirements.
• Experience in submarine structures design is beneficial.
