We are looking for an API Gateway Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be involved in building new APIs on the Apigee Edge platform. Your main responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining API solutions that facilitate seamless integration and communication between systems, applications, and services. You will work closely with diverse teams to deliver scalable and customer-focused API solutions.

Responsibilities

  1. Design, develop, and implement secure RESTful APIs using Apigee Edge, ensuring adherence to industry standards for secure and efficient communication.
  2. Collaborate with solution architects and development teams to build scalable and secure API solutions.
  3. Develop code that is reusable, testable, and efficient, following standard processes.
  4. Configure and customize Apigee Edge policies, proxies, and components to meet specific project requirements.
  5. Implement security measures and authentication mechanisms to protect APIs and ensure data integrity.

Integration and Connectivity

  1. Collaborate with internal and external teams to integrate APIs seamlessly into various applications and services.
  2. Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues to ensure smooth communication between systems.
  3. Implement monitoring and logging solutions to track API performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize system efficiency.
  4. Conduct regular performance assessments and implement optimizations to improve the overall API ecosystem.

Documentation

  1. Create comprehensive documentation for APIs, including specifications, usage guidelines, and troubleshooting procedures.
  2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation to facilitate collaboration among development teams and collaborators.
  3. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, QA, and business stakeholders.
  4. Communicate effectively to understand business requirements and collaborate throughout the SDLC.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Proven experience in crafting and developing APIs using Apigee Edge or equivalent API gateway platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of API design principles, RESTful architectures, and web services.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java.
  • Experience with API security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proven expertise in crafting DynamoDB tables for scalability and efficiency.
  • Experience with SOAP services, HTTP performance optimization, caching strategies, and message-based communication architectures.
  • Knowledge of source code management and CI/CD tools, especially GitHub and GitHub Actions.
  • Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) are desirable.

Preferred skills

  • At least 3 years experience with Apigee Edge and relevant certification.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms.
