Job Description:

API Developer - SC Cleared

Whitehall Resources require an API Developer with SC Clearance to work with a key client on a 2 month initial contract with extensions.

*Fully remote.

*Inside IR35.

Responsibilities:

1. Design, develop, and maintain high-quality APIs.
2. Collaborate with Architect, Data Engineers, DevSecOps, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver API solutions that meet business needs.
3. Ensure APIs are well-documented, scalable, and maintainable.
4. Implement and manage API security and authentication protocols.
5. Monitor and optimize API performance to ensure high availability and reliability.
6. Debug and resolve issues related to APIs and integration points.
7. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in API development and integration.
8. Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
9. Work closely with DevOps teams to automate deployment and monitoring processes.

Key Technical Skills:

1. Ability to develop API services, principally (but not limited to) HTTP REST.
2. Ability to define API specifications including OpenAPI.
3. Ability to develop APIs against NFRs such performance, reliability etc.
4. Ability to integrate services with other software components such as data stores, third party software etc.
5. Experience of securing APIs using methods such as Oauth2.0, JWTs etc.
6. Experience of working within an Agile delivery methodology.
7. Ability to program in one or more languages (likely to be python, JavaScript, Go, maybe Java).
8. Experience with producing automated unit tests alongside developed code.
9. Experience of developing containerized solutions.
10. Experience of working with API management platforms.
