Reinsurance Graduate Programme

Our Reinsurance graduates are part of rotational programmes within their solution line. Our graduates experience the full lifecycle of our business — from trading risk in the market and understanding the importance of claims through to winning new business.

You’ll focus on developing client-management skills too and build relationships with a broad spectrum of people — including clients, our own industry specialists and members of the global insurance and reinsurance markets.

Your role as a Reinsurance Broking Graduate in our Japan Team:

Your first rotation would be in the Japan Team, so you will need proficient Japanese language speaking and writing skills at C1/C2 level or bilingual/Native speaker. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and market leading team, working with colleagues and clients on a variety of Japanese Treaty reinsurance business (including Property and other Specialty Lines).

You will also have the opportunity to:

• Provide advice to clients and colleagues on placement design, available coverage and capacity, likely pricing, potential coverage enhancements and market progress.
• Work on and provide support in developing and delivering market presentations and broking strategy.
• Identify appropriate channels for risk placement based on clients’ market security guidelines and other requirements, exerting influence on the market in order to secure the best deals.
• Negotiate terms and conditions of placement with the market (including Singapore, Bermuda, Europe and Lloyd’s).
• Be responsible for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests, or reputation of any Group Company.

Your Development

As an Aon Graduate, you will be enrolled onto our Launch Programme when you join. This development programme is built around 3 core elements:

• Business learning – on the job learning and experiences giving you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of the team and solution line you have joined.
• Centralised learning - UK graduates complete in an Aon Induction, monthly webinars, business skills training and workshops; all designed to help you develop your knowledge of Aon, build your confidence and your network across our business.
• Professional Qualifications – we want you to be as successful as possible, so through our Go Further Apprenticeship programmes, we’ll fully support your study towards the level 4 Diploma in Insurance from the CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) and beyond. To support you as you study for your exams, you’ll receive paid study leave, plus an extensive range of study and tuition materials.

Your career beyond your Graduate programme

Once you’ve completed the formal 18 month graduate rotational programme you will be promoted into a role within either Commercial Risk or Reinsurance, depending on the stream you are part of. We will continue to support technical and business skills training, and your CII qualifications. To aid your professional development you’ll receive regular performance feedback, and work with your line manager towards promotions, enabling you to continue to progress.

Entry Requirements

We recognise the value for our Early Career colleagues of being in the office environment from the beginning of their programme. As a new graduate, you will spend the first 6 months based in the office to support your learning, development, and progression. This will enable you access to support from managers, collaborate with colleagues as well as grow your network across Aon. After completing this initial training period, you will then have the opportunity to work more flexibly, spending at least 3 to 4 days face to face in the Aon office or with clients.
