Strategic Command Transformation

Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, all posts within Strategic Command Headquarters and in time the wider organisation, are/will be subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities. Throughout, the Command’s transformation programme is committed to following the MOD’s framework on managing and supporting people through the change process and places an emphasis on early and open consultation and engagement with the Command’s personnel and Trade Unions.

Job Description

As the successful candidate, you will support Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) in the delivery of safe and effective healthcare within the firm base at the regional level in order to enhance and sustain the operational effectiveness.

You will also support the regional team to maintain the delivery of safe and effective primary healthcare to mandated standards across the region. The principle function of this post is that of co-ordination and provision of full administrative support to all Regional Head Quarters (RHQ) staff, Drafting and producing basic letters and typing documents: taking and producing minutes of meetings, management of office procedures and process to ensure regional staff can undertake their roles and function effectively.

Person specification

Duties Will Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Answering the office and reception phone, deal with queries within your own area of expertise and take accurate messages as appropriate for other staff and book appointments.
  • Assisting the Regional Clinical Director (RCD), Operations Manager (Ops Mgr) and RHQ Staff as directed, including maintaining their diaries and undertaking research and project work on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Arranging and co-ordinating meetings and presentations, including the setting up, booking of venues, and tidying away after meetings, refreshments, lunches, provision of equipment etc.
  • Liaising with Medical Centres and other agencies as directed, including practice visit programmes for regional and HQ staff.
  • Managing and tracking travel and movement request for Regional HQ staff, including booking of courses, flights and other travel arrangements.
  • Processing all financial documentation, invoices and receipts received by the RHQ and forwarding them to the Surgeon General Finance Department (SG fin Dept) within 5 working days.
