Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London is seeking an experienced midwife to join our highly regarded maternity team. You will lead a ward team and work across antenatal and postnatal areas, delivering evidence-based care and safeguarding for women and birthing people.

You will contribute to professional development, provide guidance on clinical governance, and participate in innovative, patient‑centred service improvement within a busy, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Midwife with UK registration.
• BSc in Midwifery or equivalent.
• NIPE/EON trained and ongoing professional development.
• Master’s degree or working towards is desirable.
• FSRH competency for contraceptive implant insertion supported.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality, evidence‑based midwifery care during the postnatal period.
• Lead a midwifery team on Aleck Bourne 2 Ward and collaborate with multi‑disciplinary colleagues.
• Offer clinical and managerial leadership for the team and coordinate ward rounds.
• Support safeguarding, infection control and clinical governance in a busy setting.
• Contribute to development and delivery of high‑quality, safe maternity services.

Main duties of the job

• To provide high quality, effective midwifery care that is evidence based and womancentred during the postnatal period.
• To manage a team of midwives whilst working closely with other multidisciplinarycolleagues to ensure safety outcomes and positive patient experiences are achieved.
• The post holder is also expected to be an expert clinical midwife who will give advice and guidance on the midwifery care of women and pregnant people, babies and their families.
• The post holder will provide clinical and managerial leadership for the team on Aleck Bourne 2 Ward.
• To lead and coordinate the day to day running of including multidisciplinary ward rounds.
• To work collaboratively with the Matrons to provide and develop high quality, safe andeffective service.
