Your mission

Purpose of Job
The purpose of the job is to provide technical execution and support of in vivo mouse experiments and assist with wet lab activities in the R&D department at MeiraGTx.

Job Description

Major Activities

  1. Perform animal procedures assessing vision in mouse models of retinal disease, including electroretinography (ERG), ocular imaging (SLO, OCT), and visual behavior tests.
  2. Administer drugs via gavage, intraperitoneal (IP), intravenous (IV), and intraocular routes.
  3. Collect and process tissues for histological and molecular analyses.
  4. Manage animal stocks, including breeding, ear clipping, and genotyping.
  5. Check stock levels, order, and restock laboratory consumables.
  6. Arrange deliveries and shipments of samples and consumables.
  7. Assist in developing and drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Additional Activities

The post-holder may be expected to carry out other duties within the scope and purpose of the job and R&D team.

  • Hands-on experience with mouse disease models and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow procedures with attention to detail and a passion for animal welfare.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and to work at two sites in Central London.
  • Experience with ophthalmic mouse procedures and molecular/cell biology techniques is advantageous but not required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform mouse procedures and in vivo experiments proficiently.
  • Accurately record data and support animal breeding and genotyping.
  • Assist in maintenance of labs and ordering supplies.
  • Complete tasks within budget and timelines.

Job background

  • At least 2-3 years of experience with laboratory animals, preferably mice, from a CRO.
  • Science/Biological qualifications such as A levels or BTech.
  • Current home office-approved animal license (PIL A, B); PIL C preferred but not required.
