Job description

About the role: Animal Management Vocational Trainer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Vocational Trainer within our Animal Management and Employability team at our Merrist Wood Campus. You will be responsible for delivering quality teaching and learning across courses and in supporting the raising of standards in accordance with the Corporate Aims and Strategic Objectives of the College.

Teaching will predominantly be across the Level 2 City and Guilds Animal Care and Level 3 Pearson Animal Management qualifications, with focus on planning and delivering Project Based Learning. Key aspects of the role focus on animal husbandry, behavioural enrichment, student research projects and assisting the Keeping Team in maintaining and refurbishing enclosures within the animal collection. This role also includes the effective delivery and assessment of Pearson Level 3 Practical Animal Husbandry.

This is a permanent, full-time role working at our Merrist Wood College campus.

What do you need to be successful as an Animal Management Vocational Trainer at Activate Learning?

You will be enthusiastic and motivated and carry a minimum of level 4 qualification in an Animal Management subject or similar recognised qualification within the animal management field as well as experience of working in a Zoo Licensed Collection?with a variety of animal species.

You will have a teaching qualification or willingness to work towards a recognised qualification. Ideally, you will have work experience within a Further Education environment and teaching on BTEC, T Level and other City and Guilds qualifications. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with students at all levels to ensure you are maximising individual strengths to set them up for success.
