About the role: Animal Management Teacher
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Teacher to join our Agriculture and Animal Management team at Merrist Wood Campus.
In this role, you will deliver education and training to students primarily in T-Level and BTEC Animal Management courses. Your responsibilities will include ensuring high-quality teaching and learning, with focus on the business element of animal management, safe working practices, study skills and welfare and ethics, contributing to raising standards in line with the College's Corporate Aims and Strategic Objectives.
You will work within a cutting-edge £4 million animal management centre that houses a wide range of species on a 400-acre campus. Merrist Wood is renowned both nationally and internationally among employers and industry specialists, with a long-standing history of providing exceptional education in land-based sectors.
The successful candidate will join a well-established teaching team and have the opportunity to support study tours worldwide. The role comes with a generous annual leave entitlement and access to training. This is a permanent, part-time role working up to 18.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE) based at our Merrist Wood College campus, starting in August in preparation for September.
What do you need to be successful as a Livestock Production and Welfare Teacher at Activate Learning?
Livestock Production and Welfare Teachers serve as role models for our students, ensuring they graduate not only with professional qualifications but also with the skills needed to thrive in their careers.
You should be:
Ideally, you will have experience working in a Further Education setting and teaching T-Level qualifications.
You should also be capable of engaging with students at all levels to maximise their strengths and prepare them for success, and experienced in working with and teaching students with special educational needs.
Your outstanding communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to deliver engaging and effective lessons to a diverse range of learners. Additionally, you will have strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workloads, and will thrive as part of a supportive team in a varied role with numerous opportunities for career development.
