Job summary

Vets Now is seeking a Weekend Animal Care Assistant for our Preston clinic. You will support clinical teams in a busy emergency environment, helping with patient care, basic diagnostics, and theatre setup to ensure smooth operations during weekend shifts.

The role offers weekend hours (evenings to early mornings) with full benefits and a pro-active CPD and staff support program. Join us to contribute to high-quality emergency pet care in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Under guidance of Vet Nurses and Vet Surgeons.
• Assist with running diagnostic tests.
• Set up and clear theatres for surgical procedures.
• Attend to basic husbandry needs of in-patients.

Key Responsibilities

As an Animal Care Assistant at Vets Now, you will play a crucial role in assisting our clinical teams with providing a comfortable and stress-free in-patient environment whilst negotiating busy shifts in an emergency clinic. Your responsibilities will include:

• Working under the guidance of Vet Nurses and Vet Surgeons.
• Handling patients for basic procedures and assisting with running diagnostic tests.
• Assisting in setting up and clearing down theatres for surgical procedures.
• Ensuring all in-patients have their basic husbandry needs attended to.

Working pattern

1:4 weekends working Saturday and Sunday from 19:30 to 08:30

Plus, a fair share of bank holidays.
