Vets Now in Northampton is seeking a Part Time Animal Care Assistant to support our emergency and critical care teams. You will help provide a comfortable in-patient environment, assist with basic procedures, and contribute to efficient shift changes across our busy clinic.

The role requires flexibility to work weekends and late shifts, with a competitive hourly rate and a benefits package including CPD allowances and staff discounts.

Qualifications

• Experience with animals preferred.
• Compassionate and able to work in emergency settings.
• Willingness to work shifts including weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist Vet Nurses and Vet Surgeons in patient handling and basic procedures.
• Support clinical teams by running diagnostic tests and maintaining a stress-free in-patient environment.
• Set up and clear theatres for surgical procedures and ensure patients receive basic husbandry.

Role and Responsibilities

As an Animal Care Assistant at Vets Now, you will play a crucial role in assisting our clinical teams with providing a comfortable and stress-free in-patient environment whilst negotiating busy shifts in an emergency clinic. Your responsibilities will include:

• Working under the guidance of Vet Nurses and Vet Surgeons.
• Handling patients for basic procedures and assisting with running diagnostic tests.
• Assisting in setting up and clearing down theatres for surgical procedures.
• Ensuring all in-patients have their basic husbandry needs attended to.

Working pattern

Week 1: Saturday from 12:00 to 19:30 and Sunday from 08:30 to 19:30

Week 2: Saturday and Sunday from 19:30 to 08:30

Week 3: 2 midweek shifts from 19:30 to 08:30

Plus, a fair share of bank holidays.
