Job summary

KEITS Training Services Limited is seeking a dedicated individual to join Walls4Paws exclusive Homeboarding EST and Gables Equestrian as an Animal Care Apprentice in Derbyshire. The role covers caring for dogs and horses, welcoming animals, and maintaining a safe, clean environment in a family-run setting.

You will work towards a Level 2 Animal Care Apprenticeship with full training provided by the employer and KEITS, including remote and on-site coaching and an End Point Assessment at the end

Qualifications

• Desired skills: time keeping, communication, reliability and a preference for candidates with some animal experience.
• Applicants must NOT already hold a Level 2 or higher in animal care.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming dogs to boarding and day care.
• Supervising groups of dogs.
• Cleaning and maintaining a safe environment for the dogs.
• Maintaining welfare of the dogs and horses at all times.
• Handling issues that may arise and communicating with customers.
• Mucking out, turning out and catching in.
• Feeding and watering.
• Maintaining grazing and the yard.

Animal Care Apprentice
(Walls4Paws exclusive Homeboarding EST and Gables Equestrian)

Sarah Wall and family have created a loving home environment in which to welcome your dog as their guest. Whether its just for the day or a sleepover, your dog will become one of the family. Set in 35 acres of Derbyshire countryside, The Gables is a smoke free and kennel free environment which will become a haven for your dog whenever you need a getaway. All dogs in our care live in our family home where we can provide 24 hour care and attention. Our cosy home with log fires in winter and underfloor heating will ensure your dog feels part of the family. There is also a livery yard of 23 horses on the site offering 5 star livery with fantastic facilities catering for happy hackers to competition horses.

We are recruiting for a passionate and committed individual to join our team caring for the dogs and horses in our care.

Duties will include, but not limited to;

• Welcoming dogs to the boarding and day care
• Supervising groups of dogs
• Cleaning
• Ensuring a safe environment for the dogs
• Maintaining the welfare of the dogs and horses at all time
• Dealing with any issues that may arise
• Communicating with customers
• Mucking out
• Turning out and catching in
• Feeding and watering
• Maintaining grazing and the yard

Training Provided

• Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
• The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Animal Care Apprenticeship
• The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
• The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
