Job description

Android Engineer

Whitehall Resources are looking for an Android Engineer. This role is hybrid, requiring 2 days per week on-site in Leeds or London, with the remainder remote, for an initial 6-month contract.

Skills and Experience:
  • Excellent knowledge of Kotlin / Java
  • Strong understanding of Android SDK, UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
  • Hands-on experience with Android frameworks, multi-module architecture, Jetpack Compose, dependency injection (Dagger/Hilt), and asynchronous programming (Coroutines)
  • Experience designing mobile experiences for various screen sizes and Android versions
Desirable Skills:
  • Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem, libraries, benchmarking, and optimization
  • Experience with Unit, UI, and Snapshot Testing
  • Understanding of MVVM architecture, design patterns (SOLID, DRY), and Android design principles
  • Experience interacting with RESTful APIs
  • Ability to collaborate with Product and Design teams to deliver customer outcomes
  • Proficiency with Git, source control, and change management
  • Knowledge of agile practices, CI/CD, TDD, BDD
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance
