What you'll be doing
- Contributing to the development and improvement of our native shared codebase and toolchain, used to produce SDKs and customizable Android applications for clients.
- Supporting product and technology improvements, refactoring, and exploring new app designs or mobile products.
- Enhancing the performance of the Mobile Team, participating in planning, proposing ideas, and sharing knowledge.
- Operating autonomously within the team, refining tasks, and maturing your domain knowledge.
- Sharing best practices and supporting knowledge exchange within the team.
Qualifications and skills
- Proficiency in Android programming with Kotlin and Java.
- Experience with native Android development and version control systems like Git and Jenkins.
- Familiarity with UNIX/Linux command line.
- Willingness to work with Kotlin Compose and knowledge of UX best practices.
- Strong communication skills in English and ability to collaborate effectively.
- Experience with TDD, BDD, and working with privacy/security-focused technology.
Preferred but not essential
- Experience supporting hybrid mobile development tools (Cordova, ReactNative, Flutter).
- Experience with Android behavioral testing and power-efficient background code.
- Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience building libraries, frameworks, APIs, and understanding DI frameworks.
- Experience with microelectronics or Bluetooth Low Energy devices.

Additional details
- Typical hours are 9am–5:30pm, with occasional flexibility required.
- The role reports to the Lead Android Engineer.
- Remote work is standard, with occasional team meetings in Sheffield, UK.
- Must be a UK resident with the right to work in the UK.
- This is not a management role.
- Interviews are conducted virtually, with potential in-person interviews.
