What you'll be doing
- Contributing to the development and improvement of our native shared codebase and toolchain. Our technology is used to produce an SDK and white-label Android applications tailored to our clients' needs.
- Supporting product and technology improvements, refactoring, and testing enhancements. Working on adapting existing technology, building proof-of-concepts, and exploring new mobile app designs.
- Enhancing the performance of the Mobile Team. Participating in planning, proposing ideas, sharing knowledge, and contributing to team success.
- Developing autonomous working skills within the team. Refining tasks from conception to completion and continuously improving domain knowledge.
- Sharing knowledge and developing best practices within the Mobile and Technology Teams.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Android programming with Kotlin and Java.
- Experience in native Android development.
- Experience with version control (Git) and automated build systems (Jenkins).
- Knowledge of UNIX/Linux command line.
- Willingness to use Kotlin Compose and understanding of UX best practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate.
- Fluency in English, with good communication skills.
- Experience with BDD, TDD, and working with privacy/security-related technology.
- Understanding of unit and behavioral testing.
- Professional mindset and self-sufficiency.
Desired but not essential:
- Experience supporting non-mobile developers with hybrid tools (Cordova, ReactNative, Flutter).
- Experience with Android behavioral testing and power-efficient background code.
- Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience building libraries, frameworks, and APIs.
- Understanding of DI frameworks.
- Experience with microelectronics or Bluetooth Low Energy devices.

Additional details:
- Work hours are typically 9am–5.30pm with some flexibility.
- Reporting to the Lead Android Engineer.
- Fully remote work, with occasional team meet-ups in Sheffield, UK.
- UK residency and right to work required.
- This is not a management role.
- Interviews conducted virtually, with possible in-person final interview.
