Job summary

Ventula Consulting Ltd. is seeking an experienced Android developer in Manchester to join a mobile team.

You will own parts of the platform, implement major changes to the Android app and backend, and work in a small start‑up like group with full ownership of deliverables. Responsibilities include building native Android components, improving backend infrastructure, and driving performance through iterative releases and A/B testing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as an Engineer with Kotlin and/or Java.
• At least 3 years with Android SDK.
• Experience with automated testing and deployment of Android apps.
• Knowledge of one or more Backend languages (e.g., Java, Perl).
• Experience with MySQL or similar RDBMS; GraphQL is a plus.
• Experience with AWS/GCP/Azure or equivalent cloud platforms.
• Experience with A/B testing.
• Strong OO design and software development passion.

Job description

Globally renowned E-commerce site is looking for an experienced Android developer in our mobile team you'll be a key part of the idea generation process, working in a small start up-like group which takes full ownership of its part of our platform. You'll be working on implementing larger changes to our mobile app and Back End infrastructure as well as do iterative improvements we make as part of our high-speed release cycles.

In this role, you will:

• Develop new features for our Android app

• Optimize UI for performance

• Monitor and understand customer behavior

• Build native Android components

• Own and improve Back End infrastructure

• Collaborate with other developers, designers, product managers & marketeers

• Experimenting and Testing; we run thousands of experiments at one time to understand and improve user experience with one of the most advanced A/B testing platforms in the industry

Role Qualifications and Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as a Engineer with Kotlin and/or Java

• At least 3 years of this experience must be from working with Android SDK

• Experience with automated testing and deployment of Android apps

• Knowledge of one or more Back End programming languages, eg Java, Perl, etc.

• Knowledge of Object Oriented concepts and a strong passion for software development

• Experience with MySQL or similar RDBMS, GraphQL is an advantage

• Experience w/AWS/GCP/Azure or similar

• Experience with A/B testing

• Self-starter, highly motivated & team-player

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Experience of working on products that impact a large customer base

• You have a can do' attitude and you act proactively and not reactively

This is an initial 6 month contract based in Manchester for 2 days a week with the rest remote. Daily rate is up to £600 per day inside of IR35.
