Job summary

Hedgehog Lab is hiring a Kotlin/Java mobile developer to work on a government mobile app at scale, with a six-month outside IR35 contract. The role is mostly remote, with one day per week in Manchester, and an immediate start.

You’ll build features end-to-end using MVVM, Clean Architecture, Jetpack Compose, and rigorous automated testing. AWS CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, and K6 performance testing are part of the workflow, alongside eligibility for SC clearance.

Qualifications

• Strong Kotlin and Jetpack Compose experience.
• MVVM and Clean Architecture expertise.
• Experience with automated testing across unit, integration, and UI.
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions.
• Proficiency in Java.
• K6 performance testing experience.
• AWS and CodeBuild experience.
• Public sector/government experience and SC clearance eligibility.

Job description

Six months, outside IR35, immediate start. Four days remote, one day per week in Manchester.

This is a chance to work on a mobile app used at national scale, inside a public sector organisation that takes engineering seriously.

You’ll be joining a modern setup with automated testing, epiphem? branch deployments and performance testing in AWS CodeBuild.

If you like clean architecture and proper test coverage, this is the kind of environment where that work is valued rather than skipped.
