A leading NHS Trust is seeking an Anatomical Pathology Technologist to assist in post-mortem work and develop mortuary procedures. Responsibilities include examining the deceased and ensuring high-quality mortuary services. Applicants must hold a full UK driving license and be able to travel between sites. This role is vital for the Trust, serving a large community.
University Hospitals of North Midlands is currently unable to provide sponsorship for this role. This is in accordance with UKVI guidelines and legislation, as these roles do not meet the skill nor salary threshold for sponsorship. You must also have at least six months remaining until your visa expires at the start of employment for training and operational reasons.
North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service (NMCPS) are looking to recruit an Anatomical Pathology Technologist.
The postholder will carry out routine work in all sections of the Mortuary as required by the mortuary manager and senior mortuary technicians. Responsibilities include assisting Consultant Pathologists in Post Mortem work, preparing and examining the deceased, reconstructing the deceased, and disinfecting the post mortem room facilities. The role involves developing mortuary procedures and protocols related to Post Mortems and mortuary operations.
The postholder will provide data entry support for the receipt and removal of the deceased and perform office-related duties as requested. Routine and non-routine tasks within the mortuary will be performed following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including the Pathology Quality Policy, to support the mortuary manager and ensure a high-quality service.
During winter months (November – March), core hours extend between 06:00 – 18:00, with occasional Saturday mornings to accommodate service demand. The postholder will participate in the On Call rota. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required to travel between sites.
