We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our
Mortuary and Bereavement team at Northampton General Hospital as an
Anatomical Pathology Technologist (APT). Ideally, the successful candidate will hold the Level 4 RSPH qualification and be capable of working at a senior APT level. However, we also welcome applications from candidates with a Level 3 RSPH qualification, as well as those interested in trainee APT positions.
Main duties of the jobThe role requires proficiency in the use of mortuary and post-mortem equipment, strong dissection skills, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures. You will be responsible for carrying out Quality Control and Quality Assurance activities, performing routine mortuary and post-mortem tasks, and utilizing the department's computer systems.
This is a key role contributing to the delivery of a high-quality Mortuary and Post Mortem Service.
Key Responsibilities:- Admission and release of deceased patients
- Safeguarding property and valuables
- Preparing and conducting viewings
- Performing post mortem evisceration and reconstruction of varying complexities
- Supporting daily departmental operations
- Training staff and supporting hospital teams and the HM Coroner
- Ensuring compliance with HTA (Human Tissue Authority) regulations
- Participate in the on call rota
