Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesThe postholder will provide data entry support in relation to the receipt and removal of the deceased. To carry out any other office related duties as requested by the manager and will be required to perform a range of routine and non-routine tasks within the mortuary, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including the Pathology Quality Policy to provide technical support the mortuary manager in order to ensure a high quality service.
During winter months November - March the core hours are extended between 06:00 - 18:00 and occasional Saturday mornings to accommodate for changes in service provision due to the demand of capacity.
The postholder will be expected to participate in the On Call. The postholder must have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle to participate and travel between sites.

Person specificationEssential QualificationsEssential criteria- Numerate and literate and able to handle numbers accurately and without error.
- Sound Education including English Language.
- Level 3 / Certificate of Anatomical Pathology Technology
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
- Awareness of Health and Safety matters.
- Understanding the importance of confidentiality and data quality.
Desirable criteria- Experienced in use Winpath
Knowledge, Skills, Training and ExperienceEssential criteria- Experience of working with hazard/unpleasant substances, including high risk autopsies.
- Experience of working as a team and of training others in practical aspects of the work.
- Familiarity with current mortuary practices and the legal requirements of the service
- Intermediate and accurate IT skills
- Have good manual dexterity and hand-eye co-ordination skills
- Demonstrate high level of accuracy and an eye for detail.
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to: Work in a methodical and systematic way.
- Effectively apply skills and Knowledge
- Work with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to their review and Implementation
- Work within safe systems of work and report any deficiencies in those systems

- Ability and willingness to fulfil the travel requirements of the post - primary place of work as per JD but on occasion may be asked to work at another site where the Trust has responsibility for mortuary services.
