Job description

Minute Media is a leading global sports content and technology company. We create authentic stories from diverse perspectives across our portfolio of content brands, which include Sports Illustrated, The Players' Tribune, 90min, FanSided, and Mental Floss.

We are looking for an experienced and data-driven Analytics Manager to lead insights across our Owned & Operated digital platforms. In this role, you will champion subscription analytics, optimise paywall performance, and elevate newsletter engagement through actionable data. You’ll work closely with editorial, growth, and product teams to drive strategies that increase subscriber acquisition, boost retention, and enrich the experience for our free and paid users in a fast-paced digital media environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the analytics roadmap for Content, Growth/SEO, Syndication, and Product; triage requests, balance quick wins vs. foundational work, and communicate priorities and trade-offs.
  • Collaborate closely with editorial, growth marketing, and product teams to develop data-informed engagement strategies for subscribers, ensuring content and feature enhancements are aligned with user data and feedback.
  • Ensure robust tracking and data quality across all owned & operated activities , working with data engineering to enhance our analytics infrastructure as needed.
  • Design and interpret A/B tests and experiments on pricing strategies, freemium vs. premium content models, trial offers, content gating, and other monetization levers, translating results into actionable insights that refine our subscription and overall revenue strategy.
  • Analyse subscriber funnels and conversion rates across our paywalls, newsletter subscriptions and sign-up flows, identifying drop-off points and opportunities to improve conversion. Utilize predictive analytics to identify at-risk subscribers and inform proactive retention initiatives that reduce churn.
  • Monitor key audience metrics across all owned & operated activities to uncover trends in content consumption and user behaviour, translating data into recommendations that improve user experience and monetisation.
  • Manage, mentor, and coach a high-performing team of analysts; set clear OKRs, run regular 1-1s with actionable feedback, and complete performance reviews.
  • Develop and maintain holistic dashboards and reports spanning the entire O&O ecosystem—lifecycle marketing & CRM, content performance, SEO/organic growth, syndication revenue, product engagement, and data-infrastructure health.

Stay up-to-date with industry best practices in subscription analytics and digital publishing, applying new insights and tools to continuously improve our analytics approach.

Requirements

What You Have

  • 5+ years’ experience in managing data analytics, business intelligence or similar roles, with a focus on digital media, e-commerce, or subscription-based products.
  • Proven expertise in analysing conversion funnels and user journeys, including experience with paywall or e-commerce checkout flows and optimisation techniques.
  • Strong proficiency in web analytics and data tools (e.g. Google Analytics/Adobe Analytics, SQL, Excel); experience with data visualisation platforms (Tableau, Looker, etc.) to create clear dashboards and reports.
  • Hands-on experience designing and evaluating A/B tests or multivariate experiments, and solid understanding of statistical analysis to validate results.
  • Familiarity with subscription KPIs and customer lifecycle metrics – such as acquisition cost, churn rate, customer lifetime value (CLV), cohort retention – and experience using CRM or email marketing analytics.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data sets into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Strong communication and storytelling abilities, capable of presenting data-driven narratives to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and an agile environment, collaborating with product managers, marketers, and editorial leads to drive growth and engagement.
  • High attention to detail, curiosity, and a proactive mindset to continually test, learn, and iterate on analytics approaches.

Advantageous:

  • Experience in the publishing/media industry or a subscription-driven business, with understanding of content paywall models and newsroom or content workflows.
  • Proficiency with customer data platforms, marketing automation, or subscription management systems (e.g. CRM tools, email service providers, paywall solutions).

What You’ll Get

  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a fast-growing company.
  • Career development opportunities & different skill-based workshops offered each quarter.
  • Central London based office.
  • Hybrid work model.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Hybrid vacation model.
  • Extended parental leave.
  • Private Health Insurance including mental health, dental and optical cover.
  • Standard access to WellHub with options to upgrade to premium membership.
  • Fun company events and celebrations with a focus on DEI each quarter.
  • Community involvement opportunities, both in-person and remote.
