About this role

We are looking for an Analytics Engineer who thrives at the intersection of data engineering & data analysis to join a newly formed Data, Insights and Tooling team. This team works with large scale data from our Customer Data Platform (CDP) to enable audience segmentation, data visualisation, dashboards and surfacing data across Retail Media and the wider JET organisation.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary, data driven team, collaborating with data scientists, product managers, analysts and engineers to ensure data is reliable, accessible and actionable for feature development and analytics.

You will partner and work closely with the Data & Analytics department, helping to scale our capabilities within the Retail Media domain and beyond, across both our Ventures pillar and broader engineering teams/pillars.

We are looking for a self starter, with a passion for data, experimentation and emerging technologies like machine learning and AI. You do not need deep ML experience, but you should be comfortable with large datasets, uncertainty and evolving requirements. You will also enjoy collaborating, learning and solving complex problems.

These are some of the key ingredients to the role:

• Design, implement and surface data strategies to support our wide range of use cases across Retail Media.
• Partner with our Data & Analytics department to build, maintain and productionise ETL pipelines to downstream segmentation and analysis.
• Create clean, well structured data models in our warehouse to support reporting, dashboarding and segmentation.
• Collaborate with software engineers to expose data via APIs, ensuring performance, structure and accessibility meet our standards.
• Work directly with stakeholders to provide data consultation and empower data driven decision making.

What will you bring to the table?

• Proven experience with SQL, including optimizing query performance.
• Hands on experience working with large datasets and modern tooling (for example: Google BigQuery, AWS Redshift, Databricks, Apache Spark)
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to explore data distributions, assess data quality and identify patterns or anomalies.
• Familiarity with data quality challenges, with the the skillset to handle missing or imperfect data.
• Able to collaborate effectively with product, business stakeholders and cross functional peers.

We do not expect every applicant to have a background in analytics or BI engineering. A candidate with a role as a data analyst or a data engineer with proven experience of SQL would fit the role well.
