Job Title: Analytics & Data Science Manager

Location: London

Corporate Title: Director

Group Strategic Analytics (GSA) is part of the Group Chief Operating Office (COO), which acts as a bridge between the Bank's business and infrastructure functions to help deliver the Bank's efficiency, control, and transformation goals.

You will work within the Global Strategic Analytics Team and lead a global model strategy and deployment of Name List Screening (NLS) and Transaction Screening (TS). Success in this role requires familiarity with the latest data science methodologies, a delivery-oriented mindset, strong analytical skills, and a detail-focused approach to complex issues. You will collaborate within a global team, emphasizing people development and career growth.

Your key responsibilities

  • Define and execute the regional model framework for transaction monitoring, including coverage, data, model development, and optimization, aligning with global strategy
  • Manage a global team of 15-20 modelers and data scientists in developing, tuning, and optimizing financial crime screening models
  • Ensure monitoring systems and scenarios comply with all model governance standards, with detailed metrics and reporting to ensure transparency and effectiveness
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance the Bank's detection capabilities, including internal or vendor solutions
  • Represent the function in regulatory discussions, audits, and internal committees; travel may be required

Skills and experience required

  • Relevant experience in financial services, especially in model development or quantitative risk leadership
  • Hands-on experience with state-of-the-art Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, preferably in a regulated environment
  • Deep expertise in screening processes (NLS and TS), with experience in platforms like Actimize, Fircosoft, or similar
  • Proficiency in model development languages and tools (Python, SQL, R)
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques for tuning or anomaly detection is a plus
  • Understanding of sanctions screening, AML risk typologies, and financial crime regulations
