Job summary

Eurofins is recruiting an Analytical Scientist for a client facility in Macclesfield. This full-time, permanent role involves a 36.5 hour week (Mon-Fri) and no visa sponsorship.

You will apply analytical chemistry expertise to support drug substance development, with opportunities to travel for international projects. The role requires a degree (PhD/Masters) in Chemistry or related, proven pharmaceutical analysis experience, and leadership capabilities to guide a small team across global labs

Qualifications

  • Degree-level qualification in Chemistry, Pharmacy or related field.
  • Post-graduate industry experience in pharmaceutical analysis.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience leading technical teams and mentoring colleagues.
  • Knowledge of analytical method transfer and cGMP requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main analytical testing expert for Eurofins clients.
  • Support global labs and external partners ensuring analytical methods are robust and compliant.
  • Coordinate analytical activities across change programmes and market access projects.
  • Lead transfer of commercial analytical methods to multiple lab locations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and drive improvements.
  • Lead and develop a small team of analytical scientists and contribute to international projects.

Overview

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. This is a full time, permanent position, working a flexible 36.5 hour week, Monday - Friday. We are recruiting for an enthusiastic and innovative Analytical Scientist for Eurofins at a client facility, a world-class pharmaceutical company based in Macclesfield. We have an opportunity for experienced Analytical Scientists with experience in drug substance development in the pharmaceutical industry.

Responsibilities
  • You will act as the key point of contact for Eurofins clients, providing analytical testing expertise and subject matter knowledge across designated product areas.
  • You will use your analytical chemistry expertise to support global laboratories and external partners, ensuring the robustness, performance and compliance of analytical methods for drug substances.
  • You will coordinate analytical activities and support major change programmes and market access projects, working closely with cross-functional teams including Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing and External Sourcing.
  • You will lead the transfer of commercial analytical methods to multiple laboratory locations, ensuring successful implementation and consistent operational standards.
  • You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical challenges, drive continuous improvement and maintain regulatory compliance across analytical operations.
  • You will lead and develop a small team of analytical scientists, providing technical guidance, mentoring and support while contributing to international projects that may involve travel.
Qualifications and experience
  • You will hold a degree, Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related scientific discipline, with relevant post-graduate industry experience.
  • You will have proven experience in pharmaceutical analysis within a development laboratory environment, including leadership experience and the ability to guide technical teams.
  • You will have a strong understanding of chemical substance lifecycle management, from late-stage development through to commercial manufacture and ongoing product support.
  • You will have excellent project management, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across multiple functions.
  • You will have experience in data analysis and statistical interpretation, alongside extensive knowledge of analytical method development, optimisation, validation and transfer for release and stability testing.
  • You will have a thorough understanding of analytical techniques, root cause investigation, change assessment, SHE and cGMP requirements, with exposure to wider CMC disciplines, Quality, Regulatory Affairs and Manufacturing considered advantageous.
