Job description

Analytical Support Chemist


The role will sit within a group of chemists, particle scientists and engineers who provide scientific innovations to support the development of safe, cost-effective, and sustainable processes. The primary purpose of this role will be to provide analytical support and guidance to laboratory scientists. It will provide an opportunity to learn invaluable skills and techniques to start or build upon a career in a laboratory-based research environment.


Accountabilities
  1. Provide analytical support and guidance on development and troubleshooting of chromatographic methods, with an emphasis on HPLC, GC and mass spectrometry.
  2. Identify opportunities for improvements, by adopting new technologies, enhancing our facilities and our work environment.
  3. Work with colleagues to drive the service level offering of the team.

Who we are looking for

We seek people who are enthusiastic about learning and working as part of a science community driven by rigorous experimentally based research. The following attributes are essential:

  1. A minimum of BSc or equivalent in Chemistry or other Science-based subject.
  2. Previous experience and knowledge of LC, GC and MS including method development, planning calibrations and quantitative analysis.
  3. A team player with good interpersonal skills.
  4. Broad IT skills with an enthusiasm to learn new software solutions and basic programming skills.
  5. Proactive approach and willingness to take on new challenges.
