Job summary

Cawood is seeking a Laboratory Technician for its Marchwood, Southampton site. You will extract and prepare environmental and food samples for analysis in a busy analytical laboratory.

The role requires attention to detail, strong numerical and written communication, and the ability to work as part of a team. ISO 17025/MCERTS knowledge is advantageous, with overtime and continuous learning supported.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (grade C or higher) required.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience in an analytical laboratory and knowledge of ISO 17025/MCERTS preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Extract and prepare environmental/food samples for analysis.
• Perform routine analytical techniques and QC checks.
• Record data accurately and maintain calibration records.
• Work to UKAS standards (ISO 17025/MCERTS) and ensure quality.
• Maintain lab consumables and equipment, and communicate with the team.
• Prioritise workload with supervisor; be punctual and flexible for overtime.
