Analytical Chemist for a leading analytical and testing service company, based in Derbyshire. Requiring a degree in Chemistry, Forensic Science, Natural Sciences or similar; as well as industrial laboratory experience using chromatographic techniques.

SRG are currently working with an industry-leading analytical and testing service company, seeking an Analytical Chemist to join their lab team in Derbyshire. This opportunity is suitable for an early career analyst with in-depth knowledge of GC instrumentation, looking to gain hands-on experience quickly.

Benefits: Opportunities to develop skills in GC-MS maintenance and troubleshooting in a supportive environment; 6% matched pension, 33 days holiday (option to buy up to 5 more), various rewards schemes; 39 hours/week, 8:30am - 5:00pm with flexibility.

Role Description
  • Analytical testing of environmental samples using GC-FID and GC-MS
  • Performing extraction techniques for sample preparation
  • Calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of GC-MS and GC-FID instruments
  • Investigating OOS or OOT results
  • Updating SOPs, methods, and documentation as needed
Requirements
  • Recent graduate in Chemistry, Forensic Science, Natural Sciences or similar
  • Industrial experience with GC-FID or GC-MS (placement or post-university)
  • Experience in an ISO-accredited lab is advantageous
  • Passion for analytical chemistry
  • Self-motivated, proactive, with a willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly
