Job summary

Eurofins is seeking a Lead Scientist to lead and manage an off-site Professional Scientific Staffing (PSS) team of analytical staff, ensuring high quality and productivity, morale, and client satisfaction. You will act as main client contact on a day-to-day basis.

The role involves delivering analytical testing for drug substance development, method development, and regulatory-compliant documentation. A strong background in analytical chemistry and GMP is essential.

Qualifications

  • Hold a degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry with a strong fundamental knowledge of chemistry, particularly organic chemistry and analytical science.
  • Have experience in pharmaceutical analysis within a development laboratory, with knowledge of pharmaceutical development, quality control environments, and the drug development process advantageous.
  • Have experience of modern analytical techniques, including HPLC and GC, with method development and validation experience highly desirable and knowledge of techniques such as NMR, LC-MS, IC, and ICP-MS considered an advantage.
  • Possess knowledge of raw materials, intermediates, drug substance analysis, and peptide chemistry, alongside a strong understanding of GMP requirements and best practices within a regulated environment.
  • Have proven troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and technical skills, with the ability to learn new processes quickly, work effectively using electronic systems and Microsoft Office applications, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Have excellent communication, organisational, and documentation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and clients, work independently and collaboratively, and demonstrate a passion for quality, customer service, and delivering results in a fast‑paced Eurofins environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical support for Eurofins’ drug substance manufacturing and method development projects, delivering high‑quality analytical testing in line with client and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform project analysis, method development activities, forced degradation studies, proof of concept validation work, and data interpretation to support scientific objectives.
  • Contribute to the authoring and review of key analytical documentation, including Analytical Testing Plans, method protocols, and validation protocols.
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring accurate, innovative, and timely delivery of analytical solutions.
  • Apply strong technical expertise and problem‑solving skills to investigate challenges, think logically, and develop effective scientific approaches to complex projects.
  • Communicate scientific findings and ideas effectively with internal and external stakeholders while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and professional development within Eurofins.

Position Overview
