Every day, we seek to improve financial security for people. Joining our Global Responsible Investing Team means you will be a part of a passionate and supportive team that believes what we do matters to our clients and investors.

We are seeking a Sustainable Investing Analyst to help drive our efforts in climate risk analysis, sustainable investing, and active ownership strategies. In this role, you will support our sustainability research, advance our stewardship efforts, engage with companies on sustainability and climate-related issues, and support the integration of climate and other ESG data into our investment processes. As a member of our Global Responsible Investing Team, you will be working closely with Russell Investment’s manager research analysts, portfolio managers, and other members of the investment division across asset classes, including equities, fixed income, and alternative assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working with sustainable investing teammates, portfolio managers, and investment division colleagues to advance our responsible investing processes and active ownership strategy as an integrated component of our investment work.
  • Developing sustainable investing expertise as a climate change subject matter expert, covering both external market trends and internal practices.
  • Understanding, integrating, and analysing proxy voting, engagement, and sustainability data for use in reporting, portfolio management, and systematic investment strategies across a range of asset classes.
  • Assisting in the development of internal tools to support portfolio level climate risk analysis including data validation, manipulation, and integration into existing platforms.
  • Leading targeted engagement with companies to influence corporate practices, support sustainability initiatives, and address climate change risks and opportunities through all aspect of the process including scheduling, research, question formulation and outcome tracking.
Client Service and Engagement
  • Supporting the production of client materials, reporting and communications to internal and external stakeholders.
ESG Research
  • Contributing to ESG and sustainability research through a financial lens with the aim of strengthening active ownership and investment processes.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of ESG, responsible investing, and sustainability risks policies and practices by collaborating with investment, risk, technology, and client-facing teams.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Displaying exemplary conduct and living by our organisations Code of Conduct.
  • Taking personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct across the business.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identifying, escalating, mitigating and resolving risk, conduct and compliance.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Business, Finance, Environmental Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience or qualification) is essential.
  • Experience in asset management, financial services, sustainability and climate change consulting, or another analytical field.
  • CFA, CFA, ESG Certificate, or climate-related credentials is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of climate-related issues, carbon markets, climate risk assessments, and global climate and sustainability policy, and reporting and regulatory frameworks such as the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) are a significant advantage.
  • Knowledge of MS Office including advanced Excel skills is essential.
  • Power BI and programming languages such as Python, SQL, R and/or MATLAB is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and build trusted relationships with others.
  • Able to act quickly and accurately identify and analyse relevant information regarding work tasks.
  • Makes accurate use of logic and considers all relevant factors to make rational, realistic and sound decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a collaborative team player with the ability to interact well with all levels of internal and external personnel and adapt to rapidly changing requirements.
  • Ability to take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm.
