Job Summary

Provides support to patients, their families, and physicians in addressing plan- or benefit-related policies such as sick leave, accident leave, short- and long-term disability, FMLA, etc. Responsible for oversight, application, and administration of all leave programs supporting qualified absences due to occupational and non-occupational events. Educates patients and families to make informed decisions. Facilitates communication between patient, physician, and plan provider. Creates and manages corporate return-to-work programs. Provides a strategic focus to reduce lost time accidents & indemnity days paid rates. Reviews departments' return-to-work efforts and provides strategies to improve results. Ensures compliance with state & federal laws.

Essential Functions
  1. Analyze medical certifications: Determine appropriate leave duration and scope, verify clinical recommendations align with job responsibilities, ensure documentation accuracy. (30%)
  2. Manage caseloads: Organize priorities, provide timely interventions, maintain confidentiality, and meet quality standards. (25%)
  3. Conduct follow-ups: Monitor case status, track return-to-work, and address issues with employees and supervisors. (10%)
  4. Communicate with external and internal sources: Work with attorneys, physicians, providers, payroll, vendors to resolve claims promptly. (10%)
  5. Determine recovery durations: Based on diagnosis, job classification, individual factors, and establish return-to-work expectations. (10%)
  6. Research and assess disability claims: Determine eligibility and appropriate actions. (5%)
  7. Serve as subject matter expert for various leave plans and disability policies. (5%)
  8. Facilitate transition of disability claims: Coordinate with third-party long-term disability vendors. (5%)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a related field. Required.
  • 4-6 years experience in leave management and/or clinical setting. Required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to review, interpret, and understand medical records, determinations, and notes.
