Credit Strategy Group (CSG) implements and facilitates the Chief Credit Officer’s (CCrO) responsibilities for credit portfolio risk management and ensures a robust operating environment to managing credit risk. CSG in EMEA is responsible for:
- Defining Credit Strategy and Credit Culture through Credit Risk Appetite and Credit Risk Policies & Procedures.
- Providing insight into portfolio risks and proposing optimisation strategies to Front Office.
- Identification of emerging risks (e.g. single name, country, sector) and highlighting portfolio vulnerabilities.
- Ensuring a robust Risk and Control environment to support the Credit Risk Framework
- Supporting global and EMEA Credit Risk Management.
This function includes the following teams: Credit Risk Policy & Framework (CRPF), Credit Portfolio Analysis (CPA) and Credit Solutions Management (CSM).
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
- To partake in the maintenance, upkeep and enhancement of the core credit risk system (Nucleus) and database (Apollo) in EMEA.
- Manage credit risk data in backend databases to ensure that reporting and Management Information (MI) requirements from stakeholders across the three lines of defence are satisfied.
- Produce portfolio reporting for committees, for and as requested by management, using information from credit and booking systems.
- To provide insights, analysis and support across the three lines of defence in EMEA. This would involve being a central contact point and liaison for stakeholders; coordinating queries and requests with CSG team members accordingly.
- To support the Head of CSG for EMEA and all CSG Team Heads with initiatives including and not exclusive to Nucleus and credit risk MI.
- To provide team members technical, logistical and diligent support with their day-to-day activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To partake in the maintenance, upkeep and enhancement of the core credit risk system (Nucleus) and database (Apollo) in EMEA.
- Use of securities related systems such as PRISM and EDM to produce meaningful MI and portfolio analysis.
- Perform data clean-up and validation exercises to ensure accuracy, timeliness and completeness of credit risk data.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues within credit system, liaising with other stakeholders to remediate these at source.
- Provide support in conducting data clean-up and reconciliation exercises upon request.
- Optimise data management processes continuously and propose data quality, technical and required adjustments to make processes more robust and efficient.
- Ensure the timely provision of credit risk information to stakeholders across the three lines of defence in an accurate and timely manner. Provision of ad-hoc MI upon request.
- Update and maintain the Nucleus system user guide and process documentation in relation to risk data capture and management.
- Perform reconciliations and data management exercises to fulfil regulatory obligations as outlined by Head Office.
- Support the head of CPA with input to the EMEA Risk Management Committee (ERMC) and all other sub-committees as required.
- Production of analysis, reports and MI to control and monitor EMEA’s Credit Risk Appetite and Industry Concentration frameworks.
- Ensure effective communication across all levels of management with internal and external stakeholders within EMEA and other regions. Represent CSG or own group effectively in various occasions, equip management and staff members with knowledge by sharing information appropriately in a timely manner.
- Provide staff members with appropriate tools and resources to carry out their duties.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- Extensive experience in data management, front end system maintenance and database flows.
- Experience in using different credit systems and reconciling information from multiple sources.
- Experience in data input.
Preferred:
- Minimum 2 years of experience on data management activities.
- Basic understanding of key credit risk concepts.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Functional / Technical Competencies:
Essential
- Sufficient experience in using SQL to aggregate data and to perform data management activities.
- Prior experience of coordinating data management queries from a range of different stakeholders.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
Preferred:
- Prior experience of using data visualisation tools such as MS PowerBI and Tableau.
- Regular monitoring of Financial Markets and Macroeconomic events.
