About this role

This role sits within Preqin, a part of BlackRock. Preqin plays a key role in how we are revolutionizing private markets data and technology for clients globally, complementing our existing Aladdin technology platform to deliver investment solutions for the whole portfolio.

The Global Fund Performance team is responsible for overseeing the collection, validation, analysis and dissemination of fund performance data in line with Preqin's reporting standards. This helps ensure Preqin's platform provides great coverage of timely, quality and robust performance data on alternative assets.

This role sits in the Benchmarks function within the Global Fund Performance team. As an analyst, your primary focus will be to support the end-to-end production of benchmark tools to enhance and refine benchmark-related products and tools, ensuring accurate and reliable data through rigorous testing and quality assurance. Additionally, you will handle incoming queries, support regional initiatives and contribute to projects aimed at improving data coverage, quality and processes.

What You'll be Doing

  • Work closely with the Benchmark business unit, data analytics and engineering team to review and improve methodology of benchmark-related products
  • Support the end-to-end production of benchmark tools (Indices, HIRR, market benchmarks), including defining specifications of workflow development, conducting rigorous data extraction, review & manipulation, testing, and finally surfacing the data onto the platform
  • Become a subject matter expert of Preqin's benchmark tools, understanding the inner workings of the database and how this translates onto the platform
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of the benchmark dataset through quality assurance checks and data validation
  • Action on incoming queries, feedback and complex data requests via JIRA and other workflow streams from other departments such as Client Services and Sales, stepping in on client calls when required
  • Identify and implement workflow improvements using tools like Alteryx, Salesforce, Outreach
  • Support regional initiatives and projects to enhance both the dataset and Preqin's brand within the region
  • Oversee and produce high-quality analysis for research reports, publications, blogs and presentations
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects across the team to help improve data coverage, quality and processes
  • Conduct various quality checks across profiles such as data entry quality checks for offshore teams and systematic checks to identify potentially suspect figures

What You'll Bring to Us
  • A strong understanding of performance reporting and the alternative assets industry
  • Excellent Excel skills, including advanced functions and data manipulation
  • Experience in answering client data requests and queries
  • Proficiency in programming languages is a plus
  • Grit and independence, with the ability to work autonomously and take ownership of projects
