The project life-cycle involves several stages from origination to signing, followed by implementation and monitoring until full completion and repayment or exit. All stages involve different tasks such as business marketing, project due diligence analysis, structuring and approval, negotiation and signing of project agreements, disbursement, and monitoring.

The role of the Analyst is to contribute, as a project team member, to the product design, structuring, implementation, and monitoring of debt and equity transactions, ensuring their effective implementation in line with the Bank’s operational objectives. Under the guidance of the operation leader and/or more senior bankers, the Analyst performs assigned tasks, supporting the project team throughout the project cycle, with a focus on research, data gathering, credit analysis, and financial modeling.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the operation leader or a more senior banker:

  1. Structuring and Execution
  2. Support the development of products, tools, and client offerings through idea generation, screening, concept development, product development, validation, testing, and piloting;
  3. Work as a project team member on transactions, contributing to all aspects of project structuring and execution, including research and analysis of background materials, market information, and financial performance data; evaluate potential risks, analyze financial statements, and prepare/update financial models and projections;
  4. Assist with designing and processing technical co-operation assistance, including preparing terms of reference and internal approval documentation;
  5. Communicate with internal units, clients, and stakeholders, preparing draft correspondence, presentations, and following up on emails;
  6. Ensure timely and high-quality completion of assigned tasks in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.

Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creation, and Reporting

  1. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of projects, including compliance with agreements, disbursement procedures, progress tracking, and financial performance assessment;
  2. Prepare draft monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions;
  3. Support the effective implementation and monitoring of Technical Cooperation (TC) assignments, including client communication, fund usage monitoring, and reporting to meet donor requirements.

The responsibilities are designed to allow the Analyst to progressively undertake more complex tasks as they gain experience.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable.
  • Strong quantitative skills and financial modeling expertise.
  • Credit analysis skills, including interpretation of accounts and understanding of accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial analysis tools.
  • Effective team player with ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of local language is an advantage.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Relevant experience in finance, banking, private equity, asset management, or financial consulting, adhering to international standards.
  • Industry and country exposure is advantageous.
