Job description

We've been assigned by one of the best performing NHS Trusts in the UK help them recruit a Specialty Doctor in Anaesthetics on either a Substantive or a 12 month NHS Fixed Term basis.

The successful appointee will be joining an Anaesthetics department that provides services for in-patient (elective and emergency) and day care surgery in the following areas: general surgery, trauma, upper and lower GI surgery, urology, gynaecology, ENT and dental surgery (including Paediatrics) and breast surgery. In addition, the department provides an outreach service for ECT in the adjacent psychiatric hospital and for DC cardioversions in the Coronary Care Unit.
The Anaesthetic Department is also responsible for running the Intensive Care Unit and an Acute Pain Relief Service.

The appointee will be asked to undertake various duties, these include: pre assessment, intraoperative and post-operative anaesthetic care of patients undergoing elective and emergency surgery, knowledge of basic and advanced skills of managing anaesthetic emergencies in patients of all age groups, will be expected to attend cardiac arrests and support critically ill patients on the ward and A&E when required out of hours to support the primary responder, appointee will ensure that they follow up the patient in the post-operative period including pain management, undertake pre assessment, intraoperative and post-operative anaesthetic care of patients undergoing elective and emergency surgery, expected to participate in audit, risk management, clinical governance and teaching.
