Job summary

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking two Band 5 Anaesthetic Practitioners/ODPs for day and permanent Night emergency Teams in the Anaesthetics Theatres.

The successful candidates will possess Anaesthetic skills, good communication and teamwork, and will join a modern, research-led hospital recognised for high standards of patient care. Comprehensive training and dedicated clinical educators support progression.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate peri-operative care using specialist knowledge and skills.
• Acknowledge patient preferences, rights and choice during surgery.
• Maintain health, safety and infection control in clinical work areas in line with Trust policies.
• Store, prepare and administer prescribed drugs and monitor effects on patients.
• Prepare, monitor and maintain materials and equipment for clinical procedures and action faulty items.

Job description

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

• Assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate the peri-operative care of patients using specialist knowledge and skills.

• Maintain health, safety, and the control of infection in clinical work areas in line with Trust policies and procedures.
• Store, prepare and administer prescribed drugs to patients, and monitor the effects of drugs on patients in line with Trust policies.
• Prepare, monitor, and maintain materials and equipment for clinical procedures, take action if found to be faulty.
• Support, monitor and care for patients during clinical procedures.
• Contribute to treating patients during clinical emergencies.
• Receive, transfer and position patients for clinical procedures.
• Maintain accurate & legible records of care., Our Anaesthetics Theatres Team has an exciting opportunity for 2 Band 5 Anaesthetic Practitioners / ODPs. 1 for our day department and 1 for our permanent Nights emergency Team. We are looking for highly enthusiastic, committed, and dynamic individuals with Anaesthetic skills who can provide optimum quality of care to patients, offering support to the multi-professional team. The successful candidates are expected to have good communication skills and be an excellent team players to support the team in achieving high standards of patient care within theatres at all times. In return we offer comprehensive training in all aspects of our service. In addition, we have a dedicated team of Theatre Clinical Educators who will support and guide you through the excellent range of opportunities that UHCW NHS Trust has to offer.
• Assess requirements of the anaesthetic room/recovery room for the operating list.
• Provide all necessary equipment and materials for the list.
• Monitor all equipment used, act if found to be faulty.
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of operative procedures/departmental procedures.
• Demonstrate budgetary control, ordering and supplying materials required within agreed budgets.
