The University Hospital Southampton theatres team, supported by NHS Professionals, seeks a Bank Anaesthetic Practitioner to cover a range of anaesthetic, scrub and recovery duties across the theatres portfolio. Applicants must be NMC or HCPC registered and have recent UK anaesthetic experience, with overseas experience not accepted.

The role offers flexible shifts across adult and paediatric cases within a major trauma centre.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse or ODP qualification.
• Post-qualification competency in anaesthetic care (CODP pre-reg ODP curriculum level).

Responsabilités

• Plan, deliver and evaluate patient-centred anaesthetic care.
• Act as patient advocate and inform patients/relatives.
• Provide scrub, anaesthetic and recovery assistance.
• Work flexibly across theatres and lead when experienced.
• Coordinate with multi-professional team per Trust policy.
• Handle medicines including controlled drugs.
• Maintain records of observations and care.
• Assist patient transfers and equipment readiness.
• Report incidents and adverse events, participate in decontamination.
