Job overview
We welcome applicants with a background in Medicine, Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, or Surgery. The successful candidate will be appointed to a core trainee level rota. Previous critical care experience is desirable but not essential.
We provide support & direct admission from our busy Emergency Department (which sees upwards of 130,000 patients annually), and we take complex external referrals. The department runs a 24/7 nurse-led outreach service, supported by ICU doctors. Additionally, we run a fortnightly critical care follow-up clinic.
Start dates for this role are from April 2025 to August 2025. Other start dates may be considered depending on available positions.

Main duties of the job
The unit specializes in long-term weaning, psychology of critical illness, acute respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, infection control, peri-operative medicine, and emergency medicine. It has expertise in echocardiography, diagnostic ultrasound, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, and research. Candidates will be supported to gain experience in these areas and prepare for specialty exams in Anaesthesia, Medicine, Surgery, or Emergency Medicine through collaborations with UCLH departments.
All applicants must have full GMC registration and MBBS or equivalent. Desirable qualifications include MRCP, MRCS, Primary FRCA, or MCEM (or equivalents).
