Job summary

Lancashire Renewables Ltd, Leyland facility, is seeking an Anaerobic Digestion Operative to join the Operations and Maintenance team. The role involves front-end operations, unloading household waste, and feeding the AD system.

You will support start-up/shutdown and routine checks, working on alternating shifts, Monday to Friday, between 6am and 10pm. Applicants should hold NPOP registration for FEL/FLT/Tele Trucks, have basic mobile plant inspection knowledge, and demonstrate strong

• NATIONAL Plant Operators Registration Scheme or equivalent for FEL, FLT and Tele-truck.
• Knowledge of basic mobile plant inspections and checks.
• Good communication skills including use of radio communications.
• Good organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Run day-to-day reception and front-end operations, ensuring safe unloading of household waste.
• Load hammermill/de-packaging line and feed hopper correctly.
• Transfer to hydrolysis/AD feed system and support start‑up/shutdown.
• Carry out routine checks of key process parameters and assist wider waste‑processing activities as required.

An exciting opportunity has arisenfor an individual to join the Operations and Maintenance teamat Lancashire Renewables Ltd. working at our Leyland facility, working alternating shift patterns, Monday to Friday, between 6am – 10pm.

What you’ll be doing

The Anaerobic Digestion Operative (ADO) will be responsible for running day-to-day reception and front-end operations, ensuring safe, efficient unloading of household food waste, correct loading of the hammermill/de-packaging line/feed hopper, and smooth transfer to the hydrolysis/AD feed system. The role supports plant start-up/shutdown, routine checks of key process parameters, housekeeping, traffic control, and provides hands‑on assistance to wider waste‑processing activities as required.

Who are we?

Lancashire Renewables Ltd was established for the operation and management of the two waste treatment facilities built for the Lancashire Waste Contract.

Our two facilities in Thornton and Leyland are manned 365 days a year. Both sites can process over 5,000 tonnes of residual (black bin bag) waste per week and divert 95% of this material away from landfill.
