Qualifications

• Must have completed preceptorship post qualification.

Responsibilities

• Clinical: Ensure practice aligns with NMC Code and within competence; complete Trust preceptorship and RCNi competency standards; maintain high standard of nursing care using evidence-based practice.
• Management and Leadership: Manage the Emergency Department environment and staffing in absence of senior staff; assess and delegate workload by staff competency to meet patient needs.
• Educational Responsibilities: Complete mentorship preparation, act as a mentor and supervise junior staff and learners.
• Professional Development: Maintain CPD in line with Trust policy and requirements; keep practice up to date with current research.
• Specific Additional Responsibilities: Become competent in enhanced practice roles in A&E; assess and treat paediatric patients; assess and treat patients with mental health issues.
