Job description

The Compliance department is looking to recruit a Team Leader within the Retail Anti Money Laundering team.

This role has arisen within the AML compliance team.

Responsibilities

  1. In the MLRO’s absence, deputise as the company’s point of contact for law enforcement; receive DPAs/Production orders, liaise with investigating officers, provide evidence, witness statements, and potentially attend court.
  2. Assess internal SARs and decide on external submission in the MLRO’s absence.
  3. Attend meetings with Regional Managers/Head of Retail Operations in the MLRO’s absence.
  4. Chair weekly compliance meetings when required.
  5. Lead an AML team to implement Betfred’s risk-based approach.
  6. Monitor and review the effectiveness of AML analyst tasks.
  7. Use control measures to monitor the business and prepare reports on findings.
  8. Identify trends and system weaknesses; develop controls to mitigate risks.
  9. Manage and audit AML policies, procedures, and controls.
  10. Conduct CDD/EDD on high-net-worth customers, document findings, and advise senior management.
  11. Report suspicious activity to the MLRO.
  12. Assess internal SARs and decide on external submissions in the MLRO’s absence.
  13. Report key events such as SAR submissions or law enforcement contacts immediately to the Head of Retail Compliance/MLRO.
  14. Assist in staff training development and delivery.
  15. Stay informed of current AML/CTF laws, legislation, and guidance, ensuring compliance within company policies.
  16. Report new laws or processes to senior management and assess commercial impacts.
  17. Respond to regulator requests, including those from the Gambling Commission.
  18. Identify and report risks to senior management promptly.

Skills & Experience

  • Confidence in dealing with senior management.
  • Experience with CDD/AML procedures is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of current and future regulations affecting the business.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines following best practices.
  • Qualification in AML or studying for one.
  • Management or leadership experience.
  • Experience in customer due diligence and risk profiling.
  • Decisiveness and confidence in decision-making.
  • Flexible approach to work in a dynamic environment.

Willingness to travel is required.
