Job summary

Dorset Council is seeking a qualified Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join our AMHP Hub based in Dorchester. You will deliver statutory duties under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Care Act as part of our 24/7 service, coordinating care with health services, carers and partner agencies.

Join a specialist team and contribute to timely, lawful, person-centred interventions while maintaining strong links with Adult Social Care and our health partners.

Qualifications

• Qualified and registered AMHP with current approval.
• Experience undertaking Mental Health Act assessments.
• Strong understanding of Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act and Human Rights.
• Ability to work calmly in crisis situations.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and partnership-working skills.

Responsibilities

• Fulfil statutory duties under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Care Act.
• Conduct AMHP assessments and coordinate interventions.
• Collaborate with health colleagues, emergency services and partner agencies to ensure timely, lawful and person-centred care.
• Work within a specialist AMHP Hub and maintain links with Adult Social Care and health partners.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and service development.
