Pay Rate: £18.41 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37.5 Monday - Friday, normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 6 months

NPPV Level 2 Full – Valid for 3 years
This role requires flexibility, and will involve the post holder travelling and working throughout the Force area (and beyond in some instances). Therefore be required to possess a full driving licence.
NB: Police Vacancy - only for candidates with a minimum of 3 years continuous UK address history. Please note that this vacancy is subject to a strict security vetting procedure.

This is an exciting opportunity working in the role of Civilian Investigator as part of the Amethyst Team. The role involves prompt and efficient investigation of serious and complex crime across investigative departments in the Police to ensure that evidence obtained is recorded, secured, and preserved in a timely and appropriate manner.

Key duties:
  1. Take written and video-recorded statements from victims and witnesses, and assist in suspect interviews.
  2. Identify vulnerability in individuals involved and ensure appropriate support and regular case updates.
  3. Gather and review evidence, including digital media, forensic submissions, and documentary materials.
  4. Prepare thorough investigation reports and case files for serious and complex cases, managing your own caseload.
  5. Present evidence in Magistrates and Crown Court, supporting the legal process from investigation to prosecution.
Key requirements:
  1. HNC or equivalent level of qualification, or an equivalent amount of proven relevant experience.
  2. PIP Level 2 accreditation.
  3. Knowledge of criminal law and Police procedures.
  4. An investigative background, to include experience of compiling files (preferably of an investigative nature) and previous experience in dealing with people (in particular, in interviewing techniques).
  5. Intermediate IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office products.
  6. The ability to appraise, evaluate, collate and present information/evidence obtained, in order to ensure that all relevant information/evidence is at hand and is of a high standard.
  7. The ability to communicate effectively (commensurate with the grade and requirements of the post) with managers, members of staff (at all levels) and members of the public.
